Lead EE Nassau Power Plant System Improvement, Bahamas electricity corp., Nassau, Bahamas. The project required a $4.4M investment maintenance upgrade.  Our main tasks were planning, trouble-shooting electrical components systems, and upgrading the record system for 1-lines. We investigated the outage at the electrical power HV distribution system sub-station, which included equipment voltage regulators, distribution pad-mount HV/LV switches, pole-mounted reclosing relays, OH capacitor banks, distribution transformers, SF6 switches, switchgears, oil circuit breakers, motors, MCC’s, and lightning protection and grounding systems. We also verified electrical conductor wiring, cable damages, and hazardous area classifications. Used CYME 5.0 / CYMDIST / CYMTCC / CYMGRD / CYMCAP power tools to perform various utility calculations on balanced and unbalanced 3-phase, 2-phase and 1-phase systems operated in radial, looped or meshed configuration. Studies included voltage drop, unbalanced load flow, comprehensive fault flow analysis, load balancing, load location/estimation, optimal capacitor placement, fault flow, short circuit, harmonics, AC contingency, transient stability, dynamic motor starting, arc flash hazard, switching optimization, substation grounding tests, and power cable ampacity on distribution systems. Identified various major faults from power studies and eliminated those faults to hasten the plant’s future growth. Provided on-site technical direction to field electrical engineers. Additional responsibilities included reviewing the technical accuracy and approval of drawings, calculations, studies, specifications, and other technical documents.
